Accessibility statement

ACTS Services LLC wants this website usable by as many visitors as possible, including people using a keyboard, a screen reader, or a magnified display. This page explains what we aim for, what we have built, and how to tell us if something does not work.

Our commitment

We built this site with accessibility in mind from the start, rather than adding it after the fact. That means the structure of each page, the way you move through it with a keyboard, and the contrast of the text are all part of the design, not an add on.

We treat accessibility as ongoing work. As we add pages or features, we check them against the same standard rather than assuming what worked once still works.

Standard we target

We target the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines, WCAG 2.1, level AA, across the site. For the body text you read on every page, we aim higher than that minimum and target level AAA contrast, since body copy is what most visitors spend the most time reading.

What we have actually built

  • Semantic HTML landmarks, so a header, main content area, and footer are marked up as what they are, not as generic boxes.
  • One heading level one per page, describing what that page is about, with the rest of the headings ordered underneath it.
  • A skip to content link at the top of every page, so keyboard and screen reader users can jump past repeated navigation.
  • Every link and button is reachable and operable by keyboard alone, without a mouse or a touch screen.
  • Visible focus rings, so you can see which link or button is currently selected when tabbing through a page.
  • Color choices built from a consistent set of contrast tokens, rather than one off colors picked by eye.
  • A responsive layout that holds together down to a 360 pixel wide screen, and text that reflows instead of forcing horizontal scrolling on narrow devices.
  • No motion effects that ignore a visitor's reduced motion preference. If your device is set to reduce motion, this site respects that setting.

Known limitations

We are honest about where this falls short. Third party content embedded on this site, such as fonts served from an outside provider, is not fully within our control and may not meet the same standard we hold for our own pages. If we add a map or video embed in the future, that embedded content may not be fully accessible either, since it comes from a service we do not build ourselves. We will note that clearly if and when it happens.

What this statement is not

This page describes what we have built and what we target. It is not a claim of a formal accessibility audit, a certification, or conformance testing performed by a third party. We have not had an outside firm test this site against WCAG and issue a conformance report. If that changes, we will say so plainly and link to that report.

Report a problem

If you run into something on this site that does not work well with a keyboard, a screen reader, magnification, or any other assistive technology, tell us. We want to fix it.

Call or text (207) 712-4447, or email actsservices@icloud.com. Tell us what page you were on, what you were trying to do, and what device or software you were using. That detail helps us find and fix the problem faster.
